Here’s an interesting turn of events. It looks as if Sony is prepping a ‘Vote to Play’ system which will allow gamers to choose which game (out of a selection of three) will get put onto the Instant Game Collection for free download each month.
Spotted by our friends over at Push Square, the PS4’s ‘What’s New’ section now contains a ‘Vote to Play’ trailer (it may be offline now) which demonstrates the voting functionality that’ll now be housed in the console’s interface. Once you vote for your game – and don’t worry the two ‘losers’ of the vote will still receive discounts – you can track its success in real time before the voting segment closes.
As it stands, gamers can choose between either Zombie Vikings, Armello, or Grow Home for entry into September’s Instant Game Collection. A decent bunch if you ask us.
And much like Steam’s ‘Community Choice’ system – a timed selection where the user gets to choose which game receives the biggest discount out of three – Sony seems to have been listening intently to the vocal feedback and decided that letting the community choose at least one of the free games each month is a positive move in the right direction. And we agree.
We expect clarification of the system by Sony in the coming days.
