Sony is set to release an Android-based tablet by the end of this summer, reports Japan’s Nikkei newspaper (via Bloomberg).
Nikkei quotes Sony CEO Howard Stringer, who states the tablet will run the Android 3.0 Honeycomb software. It will arrive in the U.S. marketplace first, followed by a more widespread release in other regions.
Engadget believes this tablet is none other than Sony’s "PlayStation Certified" Tegra 2 ‘S1’ tablet, which is rumored to feature a 9.4-inch display and a flexible "wrap" design.
After announcing the PlayStation Suite marketplace at the end of January, Sony began to deliver PlayStation game content to select Android-equipped tablets and smartphones.
