Sony’s "don’t sue us" ToS does not apply to EU, Australia

The chaps at Kotaku Australia have received word that Sony’s new terms of service for PlayStation Network are not applicable to consumers in Europe and Australia.

Sony attracted a lot of flak in the U.S. recently for updating its ToS, which essentially came to pass in order to halt disgruntled users from attempting to take the hardware giant to court.

However, it appears that this particular clause does not apply to PSN users in regions governed by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE).

"Although the Terms of Service (TOS) in the SCEE (Sony Computer Entertainment Europe) region have not been changed, in the regions where they have, this updated language is designed to benefit both the consumer and the company by ensuring that there is adequate time and procedures to resolve disputes,” a Sony spokesperson told Kotaku.

"There is also a section of the TOS that educates users on how they can opt out of this portion of the TOS. As Australia is part of SCEE therefore there is no change to the TOS."
