Sony’s Hermen Hulst Names Ghost Of Yotei As His Most Anticipated PlayStation Game For 2025

Ghost of Yotei has been named by Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Hermen Hulst as his most anticipated PlayStation game of 2025.

Speaking with Famitsu, Hulst revealed that it was a difficult choice to make given the number of first-party PlayStation offerings on the horizon, but Sucker Punch Productions‘ upcoming open-world epic ultimately came out on top.

It is very difficult to single out just one game or studio, as we have high expectations for all the projects currently in development, but the announcement of “Ghost of Yotei” by Sucker Punch Productions, which has produced a number of masterpieces in the past, is very special.

Ghost of Yotei was announced back in September 2024 during Sony’s State of Play broadcast, and is currently scheduled for release at some point this year. The following month, the development team revealed that it is planning on making sure the game’s open-world is less repetitive, and a few weeks later it was confirmed that Ghost of Yotei was now available to Wishlist on the PlayStation Store.

Set in the year 1603, Ghost of Yotei focuses on female warrior Atsu as she adopts ‘The Ghost’ persona and is set in the lands surrounding Mount Yotei, which is a towering peak in the heart of Japan’s Hokkaido region. Unlike the organised samurai clans that took up residence in the events of Ghost of Tsushima, set some 300 years before, the setting in Ghost of Yotei is filled with sprawling greenery, snowy tundras, and unexpected danger.
