Sony’s XDEV Director Excited For State Of Play Today: ‘A Massive Night’ That Has ‘Lots Riding On It’

Sony Interactive Entertainment is hosting its first State of Play of 2025 tonight, and we’re promised more than 40 minutes of updates and news on upcoming PS5 games. One person who is getting on the hype train is Jason Stewart, a director at Sony’s XDEV studio, who has made it clear he’s more than a little excited about the broadcast.

Massive night tonight, I can’t wait! Lots riding on it! I would be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous.

For those out of the loop, XDEV based in the UK and was originally parted of SIE Studio Liverpool before becoming its own outfit after the closure of that developer. Operating under Sony’s PlayStation Studios umbrella, XDEV collaborates on first and third-party studios that work on exclusive titles for PlayStation consoles, having been involved in the likes of Detroit: Become Human, Death Stranding: Director’s Cut, Stellar Blade, Rise of the Ronan, Until Dawn (2024) and the upcoming Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.

Given Stewart’s comments, State of Play is definitely something that PS5 owners won’t want to miss out on, although right now it’s anyone’s guess as to what XDEV itself may be working on that could be shown off.
