South Park: The Game announced, coming in 2012

THQ today announced that your four favorite boys from Denver Colorado will be getting their own game again, this time aptly named South Park: The Game.

Well actually, it’s not so much their game as it is yours. You play as “the new kid in town” in an RPG that will allow you to “befriend” the aforementioned boys—Stan, Kenny, Kyle, and Cartman. Developed by none other than Obsidian, the studio behind Fallout: New Vegas, the game will be a “joint venture” between the dev team, and South Park creators, Trey Parker / Matt Stone.

“Our goal is simple: to put creative talent first,” said Danny Bilson, THQ. “Matt and Trey are arguably two of the most important comedic talents of their generation.  Bringing their vision of South Park to the interactive space is a dream-come-true.”

We can’t help but wonder how much Matt Stone and Trey Parker are actually involved, but apparently, they are working with the dev team for more than just voice-overs.

Stay tuned for more info on South Park: The Game in January. The game is currently slated for a release in the second half of 2012 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.
