Splitgate is a brand new PvP first-person shooter from developer and publisher 1047 Games, and you can give their new game a try ahead of its launch on July 27, 2021 on PS5 and PS4 free today by playing the now live open beta.
Splitgate can be surmised by saying, what would happen if you took fast paced, intense multiplayer first-person shooting gameplay and gave everyone playing their very own portal gun. It’s a unique twist on classic FPS combat, that adds a variety of gameplay options and strategies for players in how you navigate the environment around you.

The beta and subsequent full game is set to feature cross-play between all platforms, so playing with friends from platforms not called PlayStation is not an issue, something that is interesting to see considering Sony’s premium charge for cross-play on their platform. It seems that more developers are willing to pay the price to make players happy, and since cross-play does help to bolster game sales across platforms it could potentially be a worthy trade-off.
