Square Enix has announced that it has scrapped production on Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link, with a statement from the company revealing that it is now focussing on development on Kingdom Hearts IV.
Speaking on X, the Final Fantasy publisher revealed that “we determined that it would be difficult for us to offer a service that players would find satisfactory over a long period of time, leading us to the decision to cancel development” of Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link.

The KINGDOM HEARTS series will continue. We are hard at work on KINGDOM HEARTS IV, and hope you’ll continue to support the series as you keep an eye out for future updates.
Kingdom Hearts IV is currently in development for as-yet unconfirmed platforms, although it’s a safe bet to assume it’s coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Back in January we reported that the game hadn’t received any major updates in quite some time, although Tetsuya Nomura did at least offer some breadcrumbs on the 15th anniversary of PSP title Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep.
Both Kingdom Hearts IV and Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link were announced during the series’ 20th anniversary event back in 2022. Square Enix has yet to set a release date for Kingdom Hearts IV.
