Star Wars Battlefront 2 announced for 2017, features content from new Star Wars films

Speaking during Electronic Arts’ latest earnings call overnight, CFO Blake Jorgensen confirmed that Star Wars Battlefront 2 will be released in 2017 and will incorporate elements from the new Star Wars films.

Jorgensen also revealed that the sequel will boast “bigger and better worlds” in addition to new content plucked from some of the latest films, though didn’t elaborate any further on the subject.

If that wasn’t enough to get fans of George Lucas’s epic science-fiction universe excited, EA also confirmed it plans on launching a new Star Wars game every year for the next three-four years. In addition, Visceral Games’ Star Wars title will be released in 2018.

Star Wars Battlefront was rebooted last year for PlayStation 4, PC and Xbox One. Despite less-than-stellar reviews, the game proved a commercial success, shipping 13 million copies worldwide

Developer DICE is continuing to support the shooter, with new content due to roll out throughout 2016. Read our review of Star Wars Battlefront on PS4 here.

EA has a busy time ahead of it, with the likes of Battlefield 1, Titanfall 2 and Mass Effect Andromeda all due for release before April 2017.
