Star Wars Battlefront PS4 E3 2015 demo ran at 900p, says report

According to a report on Digital Foundry, the PlayStation 4 demo of Star Wars Battlefront at E3 2015 was running at 900p.

The site claims that the footage offers a "genuine, practical look at console gameplay in motion," though adds that "from an early pixel-count we see the game matches the basic framebuffer setup of Battlefield 4 and Hardline: the evidence suggesting this PS4 build runs at a native 1600×900 with a pass of post-process anti-aliasing."

This is in strike contrast to Battlefront’s announcement trailer, which Digital Foundry believes was "rendered at a resolution beyond 1080p and likely down-sampled to achieve a crisper image, with a stutter-free frame-rate and footage chopped to give us an idealised vision of the game."

In addition, the site observed that several features from the trailer were absent from the PS4 demo, such as depth of field and per-object motion blur effects.

Star Wars Battlefront is due out on PlayStation 4, PC and Xbox One in November. Read our E3 2015 preview on the game here.

Developer DICE recently explained why there is no PS3 version of the game, in addition to the absence of space battles in the hotly anticipated shooter.
