Embracer Group has indicated that the long-delayed Star Wars: Knights of the old Republic Remake is still in development, but probably won’t see the light of day for at least another year.
The news comes following the mega-publisher’s confirmation that it has sold off Saber Interactive, with Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier now claiming that the developer is taking the Knights of the Old Republic Remake with them. The project was originally in development at Aspyr Media before switching to Saber Interactive.
“Yes, that’s going with Saber,” Schreier said when asking on Twitter if Saber would still be making Knights of the Old Republic Remake.
This is a strike contrast to what we heard back in November last year, when it was claimed that the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake was not in active development and probably wouldn’t see the light of day.

Furthermore Embracer said that a number of retained assets, “including two joint projects with the buyer,” feature “a previously announced AAA game based on a major license.” Speaking in a conference call regarding the Saber Interactive deal, an analyst quizzed Embracer’s Lars Wingefors if he expects the aforementioned AAA project would be out in the next 12 months.
No, I think that kind of game needs some deep love and respect, so without giving full colour, I think it’s some time left until that is released.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake was announced back in 2021, and is currently in development for PS5 and PC.
