EA has confirmed that Star Wars Squadrons will not feature microtransactions, with any cosmetics you earn only unlocked by actually playing the game, not by spending your hard-earned dough.

The dogfighting space romp was announced yesterday via a debut trailer following months of speculation, with a full reveal expected at EA Play this Thursday. Squadrons has been made for “every Star Wars fan who has ever dreamt about soaring across the galaxy in their favorite starfighter.”
In terms of setting, Star Wars Squadrons will take place following the destruction of the second Death Star, as depicted in Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. You’ll hop between the Vanguard Squadron of the New Republic and Titan Squadron of the Empire, with players expected to brush shoulders with ‘familiar faces in the Star Wars galaxy.’
Star Wars Squadrons is due for release on October 2 for PS4, PC, and Xbox One.
