Eric ‘ConcernedApe‘ Barone, the creator of Stardew Valley, has said he’s not quite ready to bring down the curtains on the popular title even 12 years after launch.
In case you haven’t been keeping up with the hugely popular farming romp, Stardew Valley launched in 2016 and has sold a staggering 41 million copies worldwide. Barone has kept the game ticking over all this time with numerous content updates, with version 1.6 being the most recent major update that grew considerable in scope from its initial concept.

Now, speaking during a chat with NPR, Barone has admitted that he probably won’t ‘definitively close the book’ on Stardew Valley after all this time.
I don’t want to definitively say that the book is ever closed, because I think I will always have a desire to come back and maybe add a thing or two. You know, maybe even 50 years from now, I might add something. I think a game can have too much content. And I ultimately want Stardew Valley to be the best game it can be. So if I feel like it’s starting to become kind of overwhelmed with content to the point where it’s detrimental to the game’s entertainment factor, I would stop.
Barone is currently working on his next project known as Haunted Chocolatier, having previously suspended development to work on the Stardew Valley update 1.6, which took around two years.
