Supermassive Games Submits House of Ashes Trademark Application

House of Ashes Trademark Application - Supermassive Games

Until Dawn developer Supermassive Games has submitted a trademark application for a mysterious IP known as House of Ashes in the US and Europe.

The news comes from the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) website.

House of Ashes Trademark Application – Brand-New Game or Something Else?

Naturally, the question on everyone’s lips following the discovery was “what is House of Ashes?”

The general consensus seems to be that House of Ashes is part of The Dark Pictures: Supermassive’s forthcoming anthology of cinematic horror games.

House of Ashes sounds like a suitably creepy title for a horror game, after all. Moreover, though we’ve seen a fair amount of Man of Medan in the past, to date, Supermassive has been tight-lipped as to the nature of the remaining games included in the anthology.

On the other hand, as we know from a recent interview with executive director Pete Samuels, Supermassive is currently working on multiple unannounced PlayStation exclusives: not just The Dark Pictures.

We’ve speculated that, given the studio’s familiarity with virtual reality, some sort of PSVR game could be included in this line-up. Or maybe even some sort of sequel to Until Dawn – we would love the opportunity to save (or systematically murder) another group of obnoxious horror stereotypes. Although, that seems less likely.

Either way, we’re hoping to learn more about House of Ashes, and Supermassive’s other games, in the not too distant future. Otherwise, we may have to wait until E3 2019 which, to be fair, isn’t actually that far away.
