Take-Two has said before, that Grand Theft Auto VI will release sometime in Fall 2025. That’s as close to a release date as we’ve gotten so far, and each day we don’t get an official day makes everyone in the industry doubt a little more that it’ll actually arrive within that window.
Not that Take-Two putting a date on it would stop the company from delaying it again, but the Rockstar parent company is adamant that players can hold Take-Two and Rockstar to that release window.
In the company’s third quarter earnings report today (per IGN), chief executive officer Strauss Zelnick acknowledged that though “there’s always a risk of slippage,” Take-Two is feeling “really good about it,” with “it” being the Fall 2025 release window.
“Look, there’s always a risk of slippage and I think as soon as you say words like ‘absolutely,’ you jinx things. So we feel really good about it.”
In regards to how development is going on Grand Theft Auto VI, Zelnick replied by saying “Look, I think the game is eagerly anticipated both internally and externally. We know that Rockstar seeks perfection. I never claim success before it occurs. I’m fond of saying arrogance is the enemy of continued success, so we’re all running scared and looking over our shoulders and we know that the competition is not asleep. Our whole organization is super excited.”
The entire games industry is hoping that Zelnick and Take-Two are right about it releasing this coming fall. Players are excited because they’ll finally be able to play a game that they have been waiting years for, and game company’s will be happy because they’ll actually be able to plan out a release schedule, knowing that GTA VI has already hit.
