Xbox Confirms Tameem Antoniades Is No Longer With Ninja Theory

Ninja Theory‘s Chief Creative Director, Tameem Antoniades, is no longer with the Hellblade developer, a spokesperson for Xbox has revealed.

Polygon recently visited Ninja Theory, which is based in Cambridge, UK, for a Hellblade 2 preview, only to note that there was no sign or mention of Antoniades, who up until that point was believed to still be with the studio. However, it has now been confirmed that he has left Ninja Theory.

Antoniades was involved in a number of major tiles at the UK developer, including DmC: Devil May Cry, Hellblade: Senna’s Sacrifice, Heavenly Sword, and Enslaved: Odyssey to the West. Prior to his departure, he also worked on the sequel to Hellblade, which is now being headed by Dan Attwell, Mark Slater-Tunstill, and David Garcia.

Ninja Theory was established by Antoniades alongside Ninja Kristensen and Mike Ball in March 2000, and was acquired by Microsoft in June 2018, bringing it under the Xbox Game Studios umbrella. Its latest project, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, is slate for release on PC and Xbox Series X/S on May 21, 2024.
