Team Ninja, the developer behind the Nioh franchise, has said that it wants to make a new game that implements proper use of the PS5 DualSense controller’s haptic feedback.
Speaking with DailyBits, Fumihiko Yasuda, the director of Nioh 2, revealed that the studio considered haptic feedback ideas for the sequel, but ultimately found it could come at a detriment to the player’s experience.
Looking ahead though, Yasuda-san wants to make a game that fully embraces the DualSense’s unique features.
We considered a lot of different ideas for how to support these features [in Nioh 2]. For a really intense action game, utilizing the haptic feedback too much may take away from the player’s experience with the game and could hurt their overall enjoyment of the title.

As a result, we implemented only a few of the most suitable ideas into the game. I would like to try and make a game that makes full use of the PS5’s haptic feedback feature in the future. It would turn into a game that couldn’t be experienced on the previous generation of hardware.
In the same interview, Yasuda didn’t rule out a Nioh 3 further down the line, but it’s clear that Team Ninja hasn’t made any concrete plans yet.
