Tekken 7 introduces new Saudi Arabian fighter

Tekken 7 bosses have announced the latest character to join the brawler’s ever-expanding roster: Shaheen, a new combatant hailing from Saudi Arabia.

Speaking on Twitter, series producer, Katsuhiro Harada, said that Shaheen was "inspired by foreign student[s] from Arabic counties and [the] Saudi embassy."

The character was previously teased last year, where Harada-san showcased some early concept art of Shaheen over Twitter. Back then, it wasn’t confirmed if he would make it into the game, however.

While Shaheen’s inclusion is now certain, it still remains ambiguous as to whether or not Lucky Chloe, the controversial ‘cat girl’ fighter introduced late last year, will be included in the U.S. release of Tekken 7.

At first, fan backlash on Twitter prompted Harada-san to suggest that Chloe would be a Japan-exclusive character. However, according to TheEscapist, it appears that he may have been joking.

"We promise an experience equal for all players, communities," he said, indicating that every region will support all characters.

Tekken 7 is due out in arcades in March and will presumably hit PlayStation 4 and Xbox One at a later date.
