Netflix has announced that Tekken Bloodline, a new anime series based on Bandai Namco Games’ venerable fighting game franchise, will launch in 2022.
The trailer seems to confirm that Tekken Bloodline will take place around the time of Tekken 3. It depicts Jin Kazama and his mother, Jun, as they train together only for Ogre to hunt them down and cause Jun to vanish.
Jin then tracks down his grandfather, Heihachi Mishima, so he can be trained by him and exact revenge for the loss of his mother. We then see a quick montage of various Tekken characters including King and Paul Phoenix.
These events mirror those of Tekken 3, with the King of Iron Fist Tournament 3 ultimately seeing Jin emerge victorious against Ogre.
‘Power is everything.’ Jin Kazama learned the family self-defense arts, Kazama-Style Traditional Martial Arts, from his mother at an early age. Even so, he was powerless when a monstrous evil suddenly appeared, destroying everything dear to him, changing his life forever.
Angry at himself for being unable to stop it, Jin vowed revenge and sought absolute power to exact it. His quest will lead to the ultimate battle on a global stage — The King of Iron Fist Tournament.
Tekken 7 is now available for PS4, PC, and Xbox One, and Tekken Bloodline will air on Netflix later in 2022.
