Tekken 8 is due to punch onto PS5 sometime later this year, though anyone who remains with just a PS4 and has yet to grab one of the 25 million consoles Sony hopes to sell this year would’ve noticed, this new entry in the franchise is a current-gen only title.
There are plenty of reasons for that of course, though the Tekken franchise boss Katsuhiro Harada has pointed to one specifically in a recent interview with PLAY magazine, calling the new SSD within current-gen platforms the “biggest” factor.
“That’s probably even the biggest thing that’s gonna evolve the player experience in the game.”
Of course players will also enjoy the added power that comes in the PS5 and other current-gen platforms, which will help Tekken 8 look as amazing as it already seems to be from trailers.
But getting back into the action of each fight faster than ever, without long load times in between bouts will help keep the flow of play at a better state than it’s ever been for console players.
