Tekken series producer Katsuhiro Harada has said that the three-week outage that recently plagued PlayStation Network has affected development within Namco Bandai.
While admitting that Tekken itself didn’t really suffer as a result of the downtime, Harada-san revealed that Namco as a whole was affected to some extent, and speculated this was the case with many game developers.
"Rather than just Tekken, the company as a whole have been affected because of the PSN down time," he told CVG. "Especially for example [Street Fighter head] Ono-san, we heard he couldn’t release the download content he originally planned to because of the down time.”
"Maybe some other developers out there planned to use some of the profits that came from DLC to further their development, so it probably had some kind of negative impact on that," he continued.
"But in terms of Tekken only, there’s nothing that really stands out other than fans contacting us to say their worried and can’t play online."
Harada is currently working on Tekken Tag Tournament 2 as well as a CG animation titled Tekken: Blood Vengeance. After that, he’ll kick start work on crossover brawler Tekken x Street Fighter.
PSN was pulled offline in mid-April as a result of an “external intrusion”, with Sony finally beginning a phased restoration for the service on Saturday.
