The developer behind the hotly anticipated The Elder Scrolls Online has said it is still targeting 30fps/1080p for the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the fantasy-themed MMO.
Speaking to Examiner, Game Director Matt Firor admitted the frame rate for either version of the game is unlikely to go any higher between now and its summer 2015 release.
"Our target is still 30fps and 1080p on both consoles. I don’t see anything right now that would change that, but we’re still doing optimization work."
Firor also highlighted the difficult task of bringing Elder Scrolls Online to PS4 and Xbox One from PC, though fortunately, gamers shouldn’t notice any major differences between the versions.
"Different types of game development have their own challenges. Just making a major MMO is one of the most difficult tech tasks there is – so taking it to console had its nuances and work that had to be done.
As for communities, I think anyone that enjoys playing online RPGs of this type will enjoy the game equally, no matter which platform on which they are playing it."
The Elder Scrolls Online is scheduled to ship for PS4 and Xbox One on June 9, 2015, and will come with a weighty day-one patch. The game has been a long time coming, as Bethesda originally intended to release the title for home consoles last summer.
