The First Berserker: Khazan Studio Reportedly Reassigned To Other Projects After Disappointing Sales

According to a report on Korean outlet Yonhap News, the development team at Neople have been moved to other projects in wake of disappointing sales of The First Berserker: Khazan.

The publication cites a statement from Nexon that claims employees at the studio have been reassigned, where their experience will benefit other in-development projects within Nexon. However, the company reportedly stated this doesn’t mean the Khazan team have been dissolved, but its future remains uncertain at this point.

Speaking during a March 31 capital markets briefing, Junghun Lee, CEO of Nexon, indicated the studio has much broader plans for the franchise.

The first game in this series, The First Berserker: Khazan, was released in 2025 and delivered a hardcore action experience tailored specifically to Western audiences. Khazan demonstrated that Dungeon & Fighter can travel. We are now preparing for its China launch, which will further validate its longterm potential.

Yonhap News mentions that The First Berserker: Khazan’s struggling sales were in part the result of complications that arose with its delayed release in China. Meanwhile, in the briefing Khazan is mentioned as part of “publishing agreements with Tencent to bring high-potential Nexon games like The Finals, Arc Raiders, and The First Berserker: Khazan to millions of new players in China.”

The First Berserker: Khazan was released for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S on March 27, 2025.
