The First Full Trailer For The Until Dawn Movie Is Out Now

After we were shown the official “First-Look” at the coming Until Dawn movie, we now have the first full trailer for the film, which is due to arrive sometime later this year.

The trailer sets up the basic plot of the film, that this group of friends will need to survive the various horrors that’ll come their way until dawn of the next day. If they don’t they’ll continue to die and come back each night.

According to PlayStation Productions head Asad Qizilbash in a PlayStation Blog post, the plot device of having the main characters die and come back time and again was a part of how the creative team on the movie could “honor the spirit of the Until Dawn game – especially the idea of decisions with branching paths and deadly consequences – while adapting it in a way that maximizes both the entertainment and terror for moviegoers.”

You can check out the trailer for yourself, below.

Qizilbash continues in the PS Blog post, “Though the movie’s story is set in the same world as the game, it was important to us that the movie wasn’t just a retelling. Instead, the film will feature fresh characters in a new, original story. If you’ve played the game, you know not everything is what it seems.

With the movie we wanted to keep the audience guessing until the end. We can’t wait for fans to discover how the events of the movie connect to the Until Dawn game.”

Even with a new cast of characters, surely there will be a number of connections between the game and the movie that fans will be able to call out, though one connection that PlayStation has already called out is the film’s inclusion of Peter Stormare, who played the character Dr. Hill in the original game.

“I have been lucky to be part of Until Dawn since the original, incredible, super terrifying game,” Stormare began in a statement regarding his involvement in the film.

“And that’s why I’m so excited to be part of this film, because the whole thing is a love letter to horror, and it completely honors the spirit of the game. The movie is going to be full of fresh characters and victims in a brand-new story, loaded with twists. So whether you’re a longtime fan or you’re discovering it for the first time, get tready for Until Dawn like you’ve never seen it before.”
