The Game Awards 2023 Set For This December

Alongside Geoff Keighely’s kick-off showcase Gamescom with Gamescom Opening Night Live 2023, he also reveled that this year’s Game Awards has a date set for December 7, 2023 at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles.

This will be the 10 year anniversary of the show, and with that has the potential to be the biggest Game Awards event yet, with a bevy of new announcements and updates on coming titles.

Especially considering that for the most part, 2024’s gaming calendar is a mystery beyond a few titles set to arrive sometime in the year.

Some of the big hitters players are likely to expect would be more news about Elden Ring’s coming Shadow Of The Erdtree DLC, since the Game Awards has previously been where Elden Ring news was revealed, it’s likely we’ll hear more this December.

Keeping in mind of course that the last time we heard anything about Shadow Of The Erdtree’s release date, it was pinged to likely come sometime in if not following April 2024.

That makes December an ideal time to announce a release date, and give players plenty of time to get hyped up for it, with more details being revealed leading up to release.

If it is due for April next year, that is. Besides that, it’s also exciting to think about the fact that these showcases will begin to have more and more Unreal Engine 5 games included.

With the wide-spread use of Unreal Engine 4 for years now, how Unreal Engine 5 continues to develop is more than worth keeping an eye on, and how this first early batch of games do on modern platforms.
