PlayStation Plus holds its cards fairly tight to its chest when it comes to letting subscribers know what titles it will be offering in the coming months. The platform seems to like to keep its audience in suspense as to what it will be releasing and when. Our best guess is that they do this to make you focus on what is available now and in the coming month. They release the information on the last Wednesday of the month to keep everyone guessing, so getting the information out of them for the entire year ahead is nigh on impossible. So here are some educated guesses and facts that we do know.
PlayStation’s end-of-year 2023 blog promised 2024’s big hitter games would include Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Tekken 8, Helldivers ii, and Foamstars. Therefore, it is not beyond the wit of man to assume these titles will make their way across to the platform during the year. While we do not know exactly when these will be released, Foam Stars is out in February, so that is certainly one to look out for.
Foamstars
Look out for Square Enix’s bubbly, foamy madness to defeat the opposition. This is an online party shoot-out game with a difference – the aim is to fill the space with as much foam as possible before the opposition beats you to it. All the characters have unique attack modes and weapons to wipe out enemies and defend their teammates. There is plenty of scope to conquer the vantage points and move quickly to get the upper hand.
Tekken 8
This game is available in the PlayStation Store, but there is still speculation about when it will make its way to PlayStation Plus. When it does, players will be able to engage with new stories of Mishima and Kazama and their unending grudge matches. Developers say Jin and his father will cause war and destruction across the globe in Hollywood-grade scenes and outrageous battles. According to Forbes, Tekken 7 is leaving the platform in February, so that could be an indication that the latest incarnation could be incoming soon.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
Whether you have played Final Fantasy before or not, this is a genre-redefining RPG encompassing three games. Cloud, Barret, Tifa, Red XIII, and Aerith are pursuing Sephiroth having escaped from the dystopian Midgar. The slight twist is everyone thought Sephiroth was dead! This is a game that can be enjoyed by all whether they have played the original PlayStation game or Final Fantasy VII Remake or not.
The Classics
PlayStation Plus has a great range of classic titles to choose from, like of Legend of Mana, Rally Cross, Secret of Man, Star Wars: Episode 1, The Phantom Menace, and Street Fighter: 30th Anniversary Collection. These games all arrived on the platform on January 16th and should keep any classic gamer entertained for hours.
StreetFighter: 30th Anniversary Collection
This massive collection of 12 Street Fighter titles allows you to relive the arcade experience of yesteryear through Arcade Mode or play with friends in the online lobby. Street Fighter is iconic and has not only been a successful video game franchise, but there have been film incarnations too. Net Ent produced a popular online slot game called Street Fighter 2 – if you fancy a spin on it you can find out more from online slot expert Adam Ryan, who can advise you which are the best sites to play on.
Legend of Mana
You are off in search of the mystical Mana Tree, only seen in a dream when you discover the world map is empty. As you journey on, you will find artefacts, and as you place these on the empty map, you will bring them to life and advance the story. This game has a colourful cast, a good dose of Scary Monsters (but not the ones David Bowie sang about) and exciting quests in the world of Fa-Diel. If you want stress-free fun, you can turn off enemy encounters or even play the never-before-released game within a game “Ring Ring Land.”
Star Wars: Episode 1: The Phantom Menace
What needs to be said about one of the most iconic franchises ever? This has to be one of the most exciting titles to land on the platform. You will need to use the ‘force’ and your wits to overcome the battles that lie ahead of you. Yes, it is an oldie, but it is definitely a goldy. Enjoy it while you can.
Rally Cross
The classic motor racing game. Some things are too good to change or update, and this is one of those things. Fuel up, get in gear and keep your eyes on the road.
Whatever Your Membership
PlayStation Plus has three levels of membership: Premium, Extra and Essential. Not surprisingly, the more you pay, the more games you can access. However, there is an excellent range of titles, whichever subscription you choose. The latest titles available to all subscribers are:
A Plague Tale: Requiem
You will need to overcome supernatural forces in a brutal world to save those you love in A Plague Tale: Requiem. The true cost of your endeavours will be revealed as you deploy tools, weapons and newfound unearthly power while always trying to stay safe. A quest that is not for the faint-hearted.
Evil West
If saving the United States from hordes of bloodthirsty vampires is high on your agenda, then you are going to love Evil West. Enjoy visceral and explosive combat as you unleash gadgets, a lightning-fueled gauntlet and a vast array of firearms into the hellscape of this game.
Nobody Saves the World
While you are not starting out with the most positive of titles, you might have something up your sleeves (or in your control pad) to change that around. Mastering the art of transformation, you can switch between being a slug, a ghost, a dragon and many other characters as you solve quests and attempt to save the world.
