Desert Owl Games are set to release movie tie-in The Huntsman: Winter’s Curse, an episodic RPG with dynamic storytelling and collectible card game elements based in Universal Studios’ Huntsman universe, will debut on PlayStation 4 later this year.
Set in a surreal animated world, The Huntsman: Winter’s Curse promises to deliver dynamic storytelling involving many of the characters from Snow White and the Huntsman and its upcoming prequel,The Huntsman: Winter’s War, in theaters April 22, 2016. As the plot unfolds, players will confront dangerous creatures and powerful sorcerers, battle evil men and even spar with Eric, the most elite Huntsman.
As you can see from the trailer, combat in The Huntsman: Winter’s Curse revolves around collectible equipment cards, which provide different options in combat. At the start of every battle, characters draw random equipment cards and can use their corresponding actions in active time battles.
The story begins with the game’s protagonist, Elisabeth, vowing to her dying father to locate and reunite with her long-lost brothers. At the start of her journey, she partners with a young man with mysterious magical powers named Marcus, who likewise wants to find Elisabeth’s siblings, but his motives are less than pure.
Players guide Elisabeth and Marcus through the enchanted world of The Huntsman: Winter’s Curse, outwitting foes and directing the story through choose-your-own-adventure style decisions. As the story progresses, the party will sometimes be joined by a third member, including fellow humans, dwarves and supernatural beings.
The first episode of The Huntsman: Winter’s Curse will be free-to-play. Subsequent episodes, which continue the main story and offer ‘exciting’ side quests, will be available for purchase.
Hopefully it’ll be more enjoyable than the first film. Despite the source, it does look and sound quite intruiging.
