The Last Guardian is getting a helping hand from Mark Cerny’s team

Mark Cerny has been heavily implied to be helping out with development of The Last Guardian, according to comments made by Just Add Water’s Stewart Gilray.

Speaking on the latest PS Nation Podcast, Gilray commented, “It’s a certain somebody’s software team and their guy’s team who worked on the architecture of the PS Vita and the PS4, I’m led to believe that he’s now running The Last Guardian’s finish.”

It’s been well documented that Cerny is the architect who worked on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita, so if what Gilray says is true, then it appears that the Knack creator is indeed helping to finish The Last Guardian.

The news comes in light of claims from The Guardian that the long-delayed Team ICO title will finally be shown off at E3 2015.

The Last Guardian was announced at E3 2009 for PlayStation 3 and was originally due out in holiday 2011 before slipping into development hell. Over the past few years there have been rumors that the game had been moved to PS4, although nothing official has been confirmed to date.

Regardless, Sony has insisted the team is ‘working diligently‘ on the project, and that the company is ‘waiting for the right time‘ to re-introduce the ambitious title.
