According to entertainment reporter Jeff Sneider, HBO’s The Last of Us Season 2 is set to cast the role of Abby, with Kaitlyn Dever reportedly “in talks” to play the character, who appears in The Last of Us: Part 2.
Kaitlyn has been linked to The Last of Us’ HBO series before, having been confirmed as one of “dozens and dozens” of actors who auditioned to play Ellie in the series, according to Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann. While the role ultimately went to Bella Ramsey, Kaitlyn now looks set to appear in the show as a major character for Season 2.
According to Sneider’s report, Kaitlyn’s potential casting comes on the strength of her performance in No One Will Save You. The actress is also known for her major role in the 2019 high school movie Booksmart.
The Last of Us Season 2 is set to begin filming on January 7, 2024, and is not expected to premiere until early the following year. The character of Abby will presumably play a major role in the season, as the series is expected to depict the events of The Last of Us Part 2 going forward.
