Games Industry.biz head Christopher Dring has revealed that The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered is currently the second best-selling video game in the UK for 2024, behind only Helldivers 2.
Dring dropped the tasty morsel during an exchange with someone on X regarding the 30% drop in gaming revenue in the UK for the first half of 2024. Here’s the full comment:
Again, it depends on the budget. If we are saying revenue is down 30% but popularity is the same… then it becomes, so what were costs? The biggest selling ‘new’ releases of H1 2023 were Hogwarts and Zelda. H1 2024 is Helldivers and Last of Us 2 Remastered.

The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered was released in January 2024 for the PS5, and is an enhanced version of the original 2020 PS4 release. Those of you who already own the game on Sony’s last-generation console can upgrade to the PS5 edition of The Last of Us Part 2 for $10.
