The Last of Us Part 2‘s sales are outpacing Spider-Man just three days after launch, and the game is the biggest launch of 2020 so far.
The news comes from Christopher Dring from GamesIndustry.biz who states confirms the news on Twitter when it comes to the UK.
“The Last of Us Part II is the UK’s fastest selling Sony game on PS4, bigger than the Uncharted 4 launch in boxed sales alone. It’s the biggest game launch this year by far, smashing the opening sales of Animal Crossing, and comfortably bigger than its predecessor”
These sales numbers are only related to the UK, as sales are reported weekly. We will have to wait until mid-July to hear how the game did at retail, with us finding out digital sales from Sony earlier in the month. But, if the success in the UK is emulated in the US, then we could be looking at a record-breaking release from Sony, easily outpacing Spider-Man’s ability to sell 3.3 million copies in 3 days. If this is indeed the case, then we should find out mid-way through the week.
