Shannon Woodward, the motion capture actor for Dina in The Last of Us Part 2, has teased that she’s back in the studio working on a ‘top secret video game,’ and naturally, this has got everyone thinking it’s The Last of Us Part 3. It could be anything at this point, and it’ll probably be ages until we find out exactly what the project is.
So, what’s the deal with The Last of Us Part 3? Well, right now the project remains unannounced, but there’s been a lot of rumours suggesting it’s in the works. Back in February this year, a report circulated by Twitter user DomTheBomb claimed the game was in the works and Naughty Dog has PS6 in mind, and follows a previous rumour from a few months before stating that Naughty Dog is indeed developing The Last of Us Part 3.
The company itself has acknowledged that fans want to see a new entry in the post-apocalyptic series, but at the time wouldn’t give away the identity of its new title (this is separate to the upcoming The Last of Us Multiplayer game). Fast-forward to July 2023, and leaker DanielRPK claimed that The Last of Us Part 3 is not only in the pipeline, but will introduce five new characters and will bring back Ellie.
The Last of Us launched for PS3 in June 2013 and was remastered for PS4 the following year, and most recently was revamped for PS5 in September 2022. The Last of Us Part 2 came out on PS4 in June 2020.
