It looks like either The Last of Us Part 3 or an entirely new IP will be next for Naughty Dog after The Last of Us Part 2 launches on June 19.
In an interview with GQ, director Neil Druckmann mused on what would be next for the prolific studio once The Last of Us Part 2 ends up on the shelves.
“As you start wrapping things up, creatively there are fewer and fewer responsibilities and my mind can’t help but think about the next thing. So yeah, the next thing could be a Part 3, the next thing could be some new IP.”
Those hoping for Uncharted 5 could well be disappointed, though there is obviously still a lot of creative mileage to be had with regards to spin-offs, as the excellent Uncharted: The Lost Legacy deftly showed.
Back in The Last Of Us land, Druckmann will be executive producing the forthcoming HBO adaptation of the game which recently scored its pilot episode director.
