The Last of Us review labels it ‘gaming’s Citizen Kane moment’

Empire Magazine published the first review of The Last of Us earlier today, making it clear that Naughty Dog’s post-apocalyptic horror romp is definitely worth the price of admission.

While the review itself has been pulled, VideoGamer.com was able to nab some of the highlights from the write up, which was full of praise for the hotly-anticipated PlayStation 3-exclusive.

The movie rag awarded The Last of Us a glowing 5/5, labelling it as the Citizen Kane of gaming.

“The Last of Us is not just the finest game that Naughty Dog has yet crafted and an easy contender for the best game of this console generation, it may also prove to be gaming’s Citizen Kane moment, a masterpiece that will be looked back upon favourable for decades.”

The Last of Us is due out on June 14, and takes place 20 years after a deadly fungus virus has devastated the globe. The game follows two survivors – Joel and Ellie – as they fight for survival across dilapidated U.S. cities and battle against both infected and non-infected enemies.

Stay tuned for our review next week.
