Daedalic Entertainment and Nacon have announced that The Lord of the Rings: Gollum has officially gone gold ahead of its planned launch late next month.
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum was originally announced about 18 months before the arrival of PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, so it’s been a long time coming. The game focuses on the character from J.R.R. Tolkien’s epic fantasy novel The Lord of the Rings, as Gollum contends with his split personality while embarking on a perilous journey through Middle-Earth, using his unique abilities to overcome danger.
Gollum is a major player in The Lord of the Rings mythos, having obtained the One Ring and allows it to corrupt him for hundreds of years prior to the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. Originally a Hobbit-like creature known as Smeagol, Gollum developed a dual personality that often sees him battling with himself as his obsession with the One Ring dominates logical thought.
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is due out on May 25, 2023 for PS5, PS4, PC, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One. A Nintendo Switch version will follow at a later date.
