May 26th is the date that has been announced by Rockstar Games for one of the most eagerly anticipated sequels in the history of gaming, Grand Theft Auto VI.
Fans’ patience had been wearing thin for some time, with delays put down to developers trying to deliver the best quality gaming experience possible.
GTA VI will take place in the fictional state of Leonida, a version of Florida that will include fan favourite Vice City, as well as introducing new areas, including Port Gellhorn and the swamps of Grassrivers. Players will take control of the franchise’s first female lead, Lucia, and Jason, her partner.
A selection of new vehicles will be available to players, with helicopters, boats, planes, and dirt bikes taking the action to the next level. Police AI improvements are expected, while the long list of weaponry available to players will also be extended.
GTA is not the only game that will have PS fans on the edge of their seats in 2026, with the IO Interactive title, 007 First Light, set for release at the end of March. The game comes from the creators of Hitman and will give gamers a unique and fresh approach to the James Bond origin story.
This could see James Bond games return to the quality of GoldenEye 007, with players making the most of all the best weaponry and gadgets a special agent should have.
February will see the third instalment of the Nioh franchise, giving fans the opportunity to combine their Ninja and Samurai dreams to enjoy one of the best and most challenging action titles of the year.
The popularity of the Wolverine franchise has been boosted by Hugh Jackman’s onscreen portrayal and his ‘Odd Couple’ style pairing with Deadpool. Now, PlayStation players will be able to play as Logan, thanks to Insomniac Games, with a variety of X-Men characters featured and visceral combat being a key feature.
Horror fanatics won’t be left disappointed with the release of The Blood of Dawnwalker, a Rebel Wolves IP that will be published by Bandai Namco. The game is the perfect combination of RPG and action that features a mythical, gothic theme where human hybrids and vampires feature heavily.
These are just some of a long list of PlayStation games set to be released in 2026, with January 15th signalling the first release of the year with The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon. February will get off to a great start with Deus Ex and Dragon Quest VII coming out on the 5th, with Ghost Gunners, My Hero Academia, and Nioh 3 all coming out a day later.
