Capcom News PS5 Raccoon City Resident Evil 2 Resident Evil 3 Resident Evil Movie Zach Cregger

The New Resident Evil Movie ‘Lives More In The World Of RE2 & 3,’ Says Zach Cregger

Resident Evil movie director Zach Cregger has offered a few new details about the upcoming horror flick during an interview with Double Toasted on YouTube, stating the movie ‘lives more in the world of Resident Evil 2 & 3’ but also shares some similarities with Resident Evil 4 in terms of overall tone.

“Well, I mean it probably lives more in the world 2 & 3 but I’d say it adheres more to the tone of 4,” said Cregger, when asked if there was a particular game the film is based on.

All I can say is it is true to the games, it takes place in the world of the games but most importantly the journey you’ll have as a viewer of watching this movie is similar to the journey of a player when you play these games. What that means is it follows one protagonist from point A to point B as they descend deeper and deeper into hell. And as someone who’s played, I don’t know how many thousands and thousands of hours of Resident Evil, I just feel like I know how that pacing can go and it’s inherently cinematic, and I feel there’s a great movie that can live inside of this world and inside of that pacing, and I’m just really, really pumped at the story that we get to tell here.

Back in July, leaker DanielRPK claimed that Cregger’s Resident Evil movie will follow an organ courier who is caught up in the Raccoon City Outbreak, the events of which are depicted in Resident Evil 2 and 3. However, the official synopsis for the film has yet to be revealed.
