The Order: 1886 made with sequels in mind

Ready at Dawn has said that its upcoming PlayStation 4-exclusive action-adventure title, The Order: 1886, has been developed with more than one game in mind.

Speaking to Polygon, the game’s Creative Director, Ru Weerasuriya, spoke on how the game’s expansive London Victorian setting has ample room to accommodate more than one story.

“It takes too much work for this to be for a single title,” Weerasuriya commented.

“We have other games in mind, other things that could be done,” he added. “The reality is that we never build a world with the mind set of ‘There is one story and that is that.’ We build a world purely for the purpose of making more than one game.”

The Order: 1886 takes place in an alternate reality where the Industrial Revolution has given way to creations way ahead of their time, including thermal imaging and electricity-based weaponry.

Utilizing this unparalleled technology, a group of ancient knights fight back against a deadly race of half-breed creatures, who have been engaged in a war with mankind for centuries. The action now takes place in the year 1886, set against the backdrop of Victorian London.

The Order: 1886 will hit store shelves in February. Read our latest hands-on with the game here.
