Sony’s Resident Evil motion picture franchise has generated a staggering $916 million at the box office worldwide.
Capcom unveiled the figures during its annual financial presentation, with Resident Evil Afterlife 3D, the fourth chapter in the popular horror series released in 2010, taking the top spot with over $296 million earned globally.
The critically mauled 1994 adaptation of Street Fighter also made the list with nearly $100 million, as did Super Mario Bros. and the Uwe Boll-directed travesty, The House of the Dead.
A fifth chapter in the Resident Evil movie series is currently in the early stages of development, and will likely be the final entry before a possible reboot.
