Radical Entertainment, the developer behind The Simpsons: Hit & Run and Prototype, has announced its comeback as New Radical Games.
The newly-resurrected studio is described as “Radical Entertainment & Hothead Games.” Why this combination? Well, Radical Entertainment ended up in Activision’s hands in 2008 after previously being acquired by Vivendi. In 2013, the studio found itself all but shuttered, with its incorporated status being dissolved by the Canadian government, and its skeleton crew being moved to other Activision projects. The Vancouver-based Hothead meanwhile specialised in mobile titles before going bankrupt in late 2024.
Now, Ian Wilkinson, a founder of Radical Entertainment, has joined up with ex-Hothead COO Tim Bennison to form New Radical Games, hence the combination of both studios. Wilkinson is serving as CEO and president of the company, while Bennison is operating as COO.
New Radical Games has just launched its official website and mentions a number of features including full game development, mobile and console as supported platforms, as well as the option of co-developing a project with another team. Here’s the official blurb in the ‘About’ section:

Radical Entertainment’s history began back in the early 90s, when it cut its teeth on NES titles such has The Terminator and The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends. It then went on to work on the likes of Independence Day, Jackie Chan Stuntmaster, the aforementioned The Simpsons: Hit & Run, Crash Tag Team Racing, and also served as a support outfit for Bungie on the original Destiny.
