Speaking during an interview with Mashable, Telltale Games boss Kevin Bruner confirmed that Season 3 of The Walking Dead video game franchise will debut on consoles and PC later this year.
Interestingly, Bruner revealed that the next season of its zombie-themed adventure series, which is based on Robert Kirkman’s successful comic book franchise, will innovative in surprising ways and retain all of Season Two’s endings.
"The way that we’re dealing with and validating and retaining all those different playthroughs is really cool and unexpected and, I think, pretty innovative from the storytelling point of view," he commented.
"How do we go back and make sure all Walking Dead fans can get in while still keeping all of our storylines going? I think where we’re landing with the story for Season 3 does a really good job of both of those things.
"But it definitely respects, honours and facilitates all of the various end points that Season 2 had."
He added: "From a role-playing, interactive storytelling point of view, it is not from the bag of tricks that we’ve ever shown any body before. We’re going to have a solution for everybody that we’re not talking about it yet."
The Walking Dead Season One and Two have sold over 50 million units worldwide since the series launched back in 2012 for PS3, PC and Xbox 360. In addition to the 400 Days DLC, Telltale has also worked on the spin-off series featuring the blade-wielding Michonne, which wraps up next month.
