The Walking Dead: The Final Season confirmed for 2018

Telltale Games has announced that The Walking Dead: The Final Season will ship in 2018 and once again see the return of teenage heroine, Clementine.

The developer confirmed the new series during a flurry of new game reveals, which includes new seasons in The Wolf Among Us and Batman: The Telltale Series.

Telltale noted that the Final Season moniker is not the final subtitle for the game and may likely change before release, although it does seem to indicate that this is potentially the last we’ll see of Clementine and pals as they battle the undead in a post-apocalyptic U.S.

Speaking of Clem, her return as the main character will no doubt please those who felt that her role was somewhat reduced in The Walking Dead: A New Frontier, as our heroine made way to new characters including Javier. Right now, it’s unknown if any of these new faces will return for The Final Season, although anything is possible assuming they haven’t become zombie fodder.

Based on Robert Kirkman’s popular comic book series, The Walking Dead launched in 2012 on multiple platforms and focuses on a separate group of survivors in the same universe as the comics, although there are cameos from future members of Rick Grimes’ crew. The first game focuses on protagonist Lee as he became a fatherly figure to a young Clementine, although beginning with Season Two, Clem would step into the limelight as the central character as she learns to survive the harsh conditions of a world populated by flesh-eating ghouls.

The Walking Dead: The Final Season release date for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One has yet to be officially confirmed.
