The developer behind The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has confirmed that the hotly anticipated RPG will feature a seamless game world with no loading sequences.
Speaking with GameSpot, CD Projekt RED’s Jonas Mattsson confirmed that loading times only raise their head when the player fast travels or boots up the game. Other than that, there’s a seamless transition from one area to the next, which will no doubt please long-time RPG fans.
“Exactly. Kaer Morhen [a region to the north]. That’s a separate small level as well there. But on the full open world, there’s no loading time. You can travel and roam around as you wish.
No, there’s no loading times. Only when you actually start the game, when die and load the game, or when you fast travel. That fast travel loading time depends on how far you have to travel of course. If you just fast travel a little bit, it’s a really short loading time.
For us, that was really important. I think we achieved that because, as you said, just going in and out of a building, there’s no loading time. Nothing. It’s just creates this really nice experience.”
The Witcher 3 is due out on PS4, PC, and Xbox One on May 19, 2015. The game will take roughly 25 hours to finish on a speedrun, while those who explore everything the title has to offer can expect to put over 200 hours into the game. Check out the latest trailer here.
