CESA, Nikkei and Dentsu have announced that Tokyo Game Show 2021 is going online, as was the case with last year’s event. TGS 2021 will run from September 30 for four days, although unlike last year, there will be a limited physical presence.
While the main event will be broadcasting content across YouTube, Twitch and social media, there will be a physical event at Chiba’s Makuhari Messe, where the games media and influencers will be invited to play games, conduct interviews, and share content with their audiences.
However, it’s wroth noting this is likely to be limited to Japanese press only, as the country is still enforcing foreign restrictions due to COVID-19 which are probably going to extended beyond the summer.

TGS isn’t the only event that is going online-only for this year. PAX East 2021 has been replaced by PAX Online, and it is believed that E3 is pushing for a digital-only event, too.
