Tomb Raider I-III Remastered Begins With A Content Warning For The “Offensive Depictions Of People And Cultures” Included In The Games

Tomb Raider I-III Remastered brings the classic Lara Croft adventuring action platformers to modern platforms, opening the series up to a whole new audience.

It also opens a whole new audience to all the flaws that were included in the original game, like some of the less tasteless cultural stereotypes included.

This has prompted Crystal Dynamics to, instead of removing and changing those aspects of the games, begin with a content warning that says they kept these aspects intact as a way to not erase them, but remember and learn from them.

“The games in this collection contain offensive depictions of people and cultures rooted in racial and ethnic prejudices. These stereotypes are deeply harmful, inexcusable, and do not align with our values at Crystal Dynamics.

Rather than removing this content, we have chosen to present it here in its original form, in the hopes that we may acknowledge its harmful impact and learn from it.”

An uncommon sight in games, but ultimately a good solution to address the issues that exist in games that were simply made in a different time.
