Reports emerged over the weekend that Tomb Raider Catalyst, the next mainline entry in the long-running adventure franchise, has been delayed to 2028.
Speaking in The Game Business podcast recently, Amazon Games’ head honcho Jeff Grattis seemingly confirmed the delay, commenting, “…[Tomb Raider: Legacy of] Atlantis comes February 12 of next year and then we’ll follow on in 2028 with the next one.” Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis was originally pegged for a 2026 release but was delayed to February next year, so it wouldn’t be a stretch to see Catalyst also pushed back as a result.
However, when contacted by Gematsu, a representative for Amazon Games wouldn’t be drawn into confirming an actual delay for Tomb Raider Catalyst. “We don’t have anything new to share about Catalyst‘s timing,” they commented. “The game is progressing well and we look forward to sharing more details as we get closer.”
Tomb Raider Catalyst was announced for a 2027 release during The Game Awards 2025 last December, although nothing has been shown on the game since. However, we do know that the game takes place following the events of 2008’s Tomb Raider Underworld, and is set in Northern India as Lara Croft explores the region while competing with rival treasure hunters that look to exploit an ancient power.
