The first look at Sophie Turner in full costume for her part as Lara Croft in the upcoming Tomb Raider live-action series has been revealed by Amazon.
Seen below, the image shows turner striking a pose in Lara’s iconic Tomb Raider outfit, complete with iconic sunglasses, pistol in hand, plus her trademark top and shorts, which channel the original 1996 costume. Turner herself looks in top shape and clearly worked out hard for the role, so she should have no problem convincing people she’s capable of performing Lara’s various acrobatic feats.
The live-action Tomb Raider series is currently gearing up for full production, with a number of major castings recently confirmed for the show including Jason Isaacs and Sigourney Weaver.
The show is being headed by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who is best known for her work on Fleabag, where she served as the creator, writer and lead star of the comedy series, which ran from 2016 — 2019. In addition, she also gained international attention for her role in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny alongside Harrison Ford, and contributed to the screenplay for Daniel Craig’s final outing as James Bond, No Time To Die.
Turner recently commented that she has been preparing for her role as Lara Croft by playing the games and reading the comics, but has avoided the films as she wanted to “create my own thing” although made clear she’s a fan of the movies.
