Animated by Powerhouse Animation Studios and developed by Tasha Hua, Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft features Hayley Atwell as the iconic archaeologist and takes place within the same continuity of the video games, specifically Crystal Dynamics’ 2013 — 2018 trilogy. Right now it is unknown if it will link to the next instalment in the franchise, which is currently in development at Crystal Dynamics and Amazon Game Studios.
The Tomb Raider franchise launched for the Sega Saturn, PC, and PSOne back in 1996, and revolutionised 3D action-adventure games at the time, offering massive locations to explore and intricate puzzles to solve. Numerous sequels followed the original game, and the series was rebooted once before in the mid-2000s before the Survivor trilogy offered an origins story for the character.
