Toys For Bob Is Reportedly Working On Spyro The Dragon 4

Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon tipster Canadian Guy Eh has claimed that developer Toys for Bob is working on a new entry in the Spyro franchise, citing sources at PAX East.

Spyro 4 is in development. That’s a statement. No theory crafting, no evidence-based assumptions, no conspiracies, or even a heavy-handed hint. As of March 2024, Spyro 4 is currently in development.

The insider noted however that Spyro 4 has only been in development since January 2024, so it’s unlikely we’ll see anything on the game for a while yet. Earlier this week it was reported that Toys for Bob had agreed to partner with Microsoft for its next game, following news that the studio had left publisher Activision to go independent.

Spyro the Dragon has been keeping a low profile for the past six years or so, following the release of 2018’s Spyro Reignited Trilogy, which remaster all three classic PSOne games for modern platforms.

With Crash Bandicoot having made a comeback with the excellent Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time a few years back, it would be great to see another iconic platform series given a new lease of life.
