According to a report on Bloomberg, Sony Interactive Entertainment has cancelled a Twisted Metal live service title that was in the works at Firesprite Studios, as part of its recently-announced plans to reduce its global workforce.
The format holder announced earlier today that it will be cutting some 900 jobs around the world, although in regards to the UK, London Studio would be closed completely and a number of layoffs would be impacting Firesprite Studios.
Not much is known about the live service Twisted Metal Game, although it has been rumoured to have been in development since 2022 at Firesprite Studios. Originally Lucid Games was behind the series revival before production was handed to Firesprite, possibly due to the poor reception of Lucid’s Destruction All-Stars.

The news about the Twisted Metal game’s cancellation comes just days after a VGC journalist had claimed that we won’t have to wait long to see the title. While the game was never officially announced, it had probably made some significant process seeing as how it has been in the works for at least two years.
A report last February stated that the game would support VR and launch day one with a PC version of the game.
